{"id":322,"date":"2010-07-09T08:00:38","date_gmt":"2010-07-09T15:00:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.scottcochrane.com\/?p=322"},"modified":"2012-07-19T15:44:59","modified_gmt":"2012-07-19T22:44:59","slug":"how-do-you-get-the-most-out-of-the-leadership-summit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/scottcochrane.com\/index.php\/2010\/07\/09\/how-do-you-get-the-most-out-of-the-leadership-summit\/","title":{"rendered":"How Do You Get the Most Out of The Leadership Summit?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I\u2019ve taken teams to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.growingleadership.com\/summit\">The Leadership Summit<\/a> for years, and one thing I\u2019ve learned is that what you and your team get <em>out<\/em> of the Summit is proportional to what you put <em>in<\/em> to the Summit.<\/p>\n<p>Some years, I\u2019ve found myself doing little more than determining how many would be on our Summit team, making sure we were registered, and having someone coordinate transportation. In those years the Summit experience, while worthwhile, didn\u2019t seem to gain optimal traction with our team.<\/p>\n<p>But in the others years where we intentionally invested time, energy and creativity on the front end, the impact of the Summit experience was entirely different.<\/p>\n<p>One year we loaded our team on a bus and headed to a Summit site in Vancouver, BC. In addition to the Summit itself we had planned a series of team-building activities, including renting tandem bikes to cycle Vancouver\u2019s famous Stanley Park seawall, and even wrapped up the week with a catered gourmet dinner on a beach.<\/p>\n<p>That was 10 years ago, and those who were there still talk about those experiences to this day.<\/p>\n<p>Today, as I talk to church leaders from coast to coast, I continue to be inspired to hear the creative ways teams are maximizing the Summit experience.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019d love to hear what you are doing\/planning to do, and then I\u2019d like to share your ideas with leaders across Canada.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tell me what you\u2019re planning in terms of:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Team building<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Advanced reading assignments<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Ways you\u2019re tying the Summit into your church\u2019s strategy<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Prayer initiatives<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I\u2019ll feature your ideas in a future post.<\/p>\n<p>Just remember; what you get <em>out<\/em> of the Summit is proportional to what you put <em>in<\/em> to the Summit!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I\u2019ve taken teams to The Leadership Summit for years, and one thing I\u2019ve learned is that what you and your team get out of the Summit is proportional to what you put in to the Summit.
