Leadership needs to result in <em>action<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I couldn\u2019t agree more. And for a great example of this, visit <a href=\"http:\/\/www.calvarycambridge.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Calvary Assembly in Cambridge,  Ontario<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>When I walked through the doors of the newly renovated facility at last week, it wasn\u2019t the beautiful new lobby that made the strongest impression on me. It wasn\u2019t the re-vamped worship centre that struck me. It wasn\u2019t even the world-class children\u2019s ministry space that left my jaw hanging open.<\/p>\n<p>It was seeing leadership in action.<\/p>\n<p>Here in bricks and mortar, was living proof that when a God-given vision drives a ministry truly remarkable things can happen. I had long known Calvary Assembly as a place that was committed to impacting their community for Christ. In their new facility I saw this focus come to life:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>They didn\u2019t just <em>talk<\/em> about valuing community. <\/strong>They built it in to the essence of their space, from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.calvarycambridge.com\/before\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">Starbucks-rivaling coffee bar<\/a>, to the conversation nooks throughout the facility.<\/li>\n<li><strong>They didn\u2019t just <em>talk<\/em> about valuing children. <\/strong>They created a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.calvarycambridge.com\/facility\/kidswing\/level2\/kidslevel2.html\" target=\"_blank\">Disney-inspired wing <\/a>where every child, and parent, will know that children matter.<\/li>\n<li><strong>They didn\u2019t just <em>talk<\/em> about impacting their community. <\/strong>They created an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.calvarycambridge.com\/playground\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">indoor play-space <\/a>for children, where parents can drop in, watch their children play, and enjoy coffee and conversation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I came away from my visit inspired and challenged. The challenge was to look at my own leadership and ask, \u201cHow much is just <em>talk<\/em>, and how much results in <em>action<\/em>?\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>How would you assess your own leadership on the talk versus action scale?<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A friend said to me this week, \u201cThere\u2019s too much leadership talk.
