The scenario; a keen young church leader asking, \u201cHow can I get more people to join my ministry program?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The result? Let\u2019s ask instead, \u2018What kind of leader do people want to follow?\u2019 Because if you can nail <em>that<\/em> question, it doesn\u2019t matter what kind of program you\u2019re leading; people will want to join in.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong><strong>People want to follow a leader with a Compelling Vision<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you ask people to follow you, what\u2019s the first question they\u2019re going to ask? \u2018Where are we going?!\u2019<\/p>\n<p>The first characteristic of a leader people want to follow is a clear, compelling vision.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong><strong>People want to follow a leader with Inspiring Passion<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you\u2019re not excited about the thing you\u2019re leading, no one else is going to be excited. People want to follow someone who can fire them up out of a genuine, inspiring passion..&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong><strong>People want to follow a leader who loves them<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s true.<\/p>\n<p>The Gallup organization did some fascinating research that showed people are most loyal to a leader whom they know cares deeply for them.<\/p>\n<p>Want people to follow you? Let them know how much you care about them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Getting the game-changing question defined was an \u2018a-ha\u2019 moment for this young leader.<\/p>\n<p>Whatever challenge you\u2019re facing, here\u2019s how you can apply this in your setting.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong><strong>Huddle up with your team and clearly define the challenge. Bill Hybels often says, \u201cFacts are your friends\u201d. Don\u2019t be fuzzy. Name the problem.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><\/strong><strong>2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong><strong>Challenge your team to wrestle with the <em>real<\/em> question that needs to be addressed. Ask them, \u201cWhat\u2019s the game-changing question we need to go after?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><\/strong><strong>3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong><strong>Don\u2019t settle for the first answer.
