{"id":5614,"date":"2016-12-22T14:16:21","date_gmt":"2016-12-22T20:16:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.scottcochrane.com\/?p=5614"},"modified":"2016-12-22T14:16:21","modified_gmt":"2016-12-22T20:16:21","slug":"thats-what-christmas-is-all-about-charlie-browntake-2-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/scottcochrane.com\/index.php\/2016\/12\/22\/thats-what-christmas-is-all-about-charlie-browntake-2-3\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018That\u2019s What Christmas is All About Charlie Brown\u2019\u2026Take 2"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>In the classic scene from\u00a0<em>A Charlie Brown Christmas<\/em>, Linus takes center stage and delivers a most eloquent defense of the true meaning of Christmas.<\/strong><\/h2>\n<div>\n<p>Reciting from Luke\u2019s gospel, chapter 2, verses 8 to 14, Linus reminds the Peanuts gang, and all of us,\u00a0what Christmas is all about.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h3><strong>&#8220;And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3>\n<strong>And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3>\n<strong>And the angel said unto them, Fear not; for, behold, I bring you tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3>\n<strong>For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3>\n<strong>And this shall be a sign unto you: Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3>\n<strong>And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3>\n<strong>Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace and goodwill towards men.&#8221;<\/strong><\/h3>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<h3>&#8220;&#8230;That&#8217;s what Christmas is all about, Charlie Brown.&#8221;<\/h3>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>If Charles Schulz were ever to have re-visited that scene, I would have loved to see Linus carry on by quoting the New Testament passage that, I believe,\u00a0tells us how Jesus\u2019 birth should impact our lives today, and every day\u2026<\/p>\n<h3><strong>\u201cLights please\u2026<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>&#8216;This is how God showed his love among us; He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. <\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>This is love; not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. <\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>Dear friends, since God so loves us, we also ought to love one another.
