{"id":650,"date":"2010-12-07T06:00:23","date_gmt":"2010-12-07T06:00:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.scottcochrane.com\/?p=650"},"modified":"2010-12-06T23:50:05","modified_gmt":"2010-12-06T23:50:05","slug":"what-ive-learned-spending-a-week-with-10-younger-church-leaders","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/scottcochrane.com\/index.php\/2010\/12\/07\/what-ive-learned-spending-a-week-with-10-younger-church-leaders\/","title":{"rendered":"What I&#8217;ve Learned Spending a Week with 10 Younger Church Leaders"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ever had one of those great plans that God ended up using to do something completely unexpected?<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve had one of those this week, and the impact could stay with me a long time.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-654\" title=\"PTP\" src=\"http:\/\/www.scottcochrane.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/PTP.jpg\" alt=\"PTP\" width=\"300\" height=\"196\" \/>We just completed a week of mentoring with a group of Canadian pastors under 40 years of age, in which we traveled to Willow Creek in Chicago, where we joined with pastors from around the world for five days of ministry coaching. I designed this week to intentionally build relationship with some leaders who were a bit younger, and then to provide them with a high-impact ministry experience.<\/p>\n<p>What I didn\u2019t expect was how God would use these young leaders to so impact me.<\/p>\n<p>Specifically, I\u2019ve been impacted in three ways:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>I\u2019ve been impacted by their desire to grow.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These leaders have been sponges, critical thinkers to be sure, but clearly hungry to grow and develop in their leadership.<\/p>\n<p><em> <\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>I\u2019ve been impacted by their ability to forge meaningful relationships.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>From the moment we picked them up at the airport these leaders began to build relationships with each other. Most had never met, but they began to quickly pour themselves into the lives of each other, their billet hosts, and the other leaders gathered from around the world.<\/p>\n<p><em> <\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>I\u2019ve been impacted by their love for the local church.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Seeing the immense passion these leaders have for the churches they lead has made my optimism for the future of the church in Canada even stronger.<\/p>\n<p>Ultimately, my greatest take-away has been a renewed resolve to do everything possible to continue investing in the leadership of Canada\u2019s up-and-coming leaders.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p>Not only for what this might mean for these leaders, but also for what this could mean for me.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>How have you been impacted as you\u2019ve invested in younger leaders?<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ever had one of those great plans that God ended up using to do something completely unexpected?
