In Christian leadership circles, we have organized a spiritual progression that starts with \u201cseekers\u201d (those far from God, but who are on a quest to find Him), moves to and through a first-time decision for Christ, and progresses on toward spiritual maturity.<\/p>\n

Christian leadership is to be found among those who have progressed furthest along that continuum.<\/p>\n

\"tracks\"For 2011, my personal goal is to turn that paradigm upside down in my own life and leadership. I want to maximize my leadership by becoming a radical \u201cseeker-leader\u201d.<\/p>\n

And I\u2019m challenging you to join me.<\/p>\n

What has driven me to this place has been getting smacked recently by verses such as Psalm 9:10:<\/p>\n

Those who know your name trust in you,
\nfor you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you<\/em>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

When David speaks of \u201cthose who seek you\u201d he is not talking about \u201cthose far from God\u201d. He\u2019s talking about those who know God\u2019s name and who trust Him.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s seeker-leadership.<\/p>\n

How do you grow as a \u201cseeker-leader\u201d? Here are four ways\u2026<\/p>\n

1. <\/strong>Focus not only on what you need to accomplish, but more so on who you need to become. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Seeker-leaders place an unusually high priority on becoming more and more like Christ.<\/p>\n

2. <\/strong>Focus not only on growing the organization, but more so on growing the Kingdom. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Seeker-leaders seek first \u201cthe Kingdom of God\u201d.<\/ins><\/p>\n

3. <\/strong>Focus not only on developing skills and strategies, but more so on developing spiritual disciplines. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Seeker-leaders understand and embrace what Eugene Peterson calls \u201ca long obedience in the same direction\u201d.<\/p>\n

4. <\/strong>Focus not only on a relentless pace, but more so on waiting and listening. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Seeker-leaders know when to slow down and simply listen for God\u2019s still small voice.<\/p>\n

For me, I want 2011 to be the year when I grow more and more as a seeker-leader.<\/p>\n
